Hi! I am Mehmet Yildiz, founder of Unlimited Holidays Turkey. I was born and grew up in Antalya, the capital of tourism in Turkey. Unlimited holidays was founded in 2011, but I have worked in travel since I was a kid. When I was 13, I came to my uncle’s hotel to practice my English soon found myself in this business.
Growing up in my destination and studying tourism here, I have guided countless tour groups through the region of Antalya, the cradle of the civilization and culture. Because of the archaeological and natural riches of the area, Antalya is also known as the Turkish Riviera or Turquoise Coast. The sun, sea, nature and history combine to form a very popular resort area, highlighted by some of the cleanest beaches in the Mediterranean. The 630km shoreline of the province is liberally scattered with ancient cities, harbours, memorial tombs and beaches, secluded coves and lush forests, many of which are easily accessible from the city.
I love Antalya because you can swim in the morning and can go skiing in the afternoon. Here, nature gives you plenty of options.
Antalya is a region where you can find everything. If you wish to see Roman ruins you can go and visit Perge or Side, or if you want something earlier you can head over to Karain Caves where you can see neolithic or paleolithic artifacts. In Antalya can walk Turkey’s longest trekking route, the Lycian way or head to Koprucay for white water rafting. For a bit of local culture, be sure to check out the Aspendos Opera concerts for some of the best music in Turkey. Or you can visit Anotolia where you can see modern Turkish folk dances
Antalya is a city where you can see modern nomadic lifestyle where people move to the highlands during the summer. This makes Antalya cuisine one of the richest in Turkey and 12 months a year you can get fresh ingredients from the local markets. Antalya is not only the capital tourism but also the capital for agriculture in Turkey. These agricultural products can be bought from every local market in the region. Everyday there you can find one in some part of the city.
With its palm-lined boulevard, internationally-acclaimed marina, and old castle with traditional architecture, all set amidst a modern city, Antalya is a major tourist centre in Turkey.
In addition to the wide selection of hotels, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops, the city also plays host to a number of sporting events throughout the year,such as the international beach volleyball, triathlon, golf tournaments, archery, tennis and canoeing competitions.
The Cultural Centre, which opened in 1995, hosts cultural and art events in the fields of music, theater, and creative arts.
The main area of interest in the city is central old quarter within the Roman walls, known as Kaleici, and there are many good museums.
